This first tree piece began the exploration of chaotic and whimsical trees and how the way in which they are depicted through art conveys different feelings, even altering the way the viewer sees the tree. This tree was done in black and white to highlight and create contrast between each unique branch. While pathways are often inviting, the presence of black and the way in which the branches crawl up the brick structure creates an eerie feeling of being in an overgrown abandoned place. The negative space also helps the tree fill the entire page, creating the feeling of being swallowed up by the tree.
